I often post about #FlickrFriday a weekly theme competition on Flickr. Mainly because I enjoy the challenge and also because it forces me to try new things. If you haven’t taken part before, I would highly recommend giving it a go. A great way to see how others interpret themes and allow others to experience your work.
Last Friday’s theme was entitled #WhiteSpace and for me the White Album by the Beatles would be prefect to work with for my submission. With time scarce I used the disc and sleeve to make up the image and submitted it. However I have to say it was a real surprise to discover that it was immediately Explored on 23rd of September, the next day and to date has been viewed over 18,000 times.
It is an honour to be Explored on Flickr and this is the sixth time, but never has one of my images been so popular. I’m sure others have been Explored many times, but I am chuffed to be featured in this way. Perhaps it is because it is about the ‘fab four’ or that it fitted the theme so well, but for whatever reason that day my mobile just kept beeping as comments were posted. So I wanted to say thank you to everyone who viewed the image, and especially those who left me encouraging comments.
I would love to hear about what others know about Flickr Explore and how images are chosen. So please do feel encourage to leave comments in any of my posts on this blog.
This week I have been travelling around Ireland and between wifi signals, when I discovered that my image of travel documents (shot for #FlickrFriday theme #BusinessAsUsual) was selected to be featured on the Flickr blog. This made me very happy because I started entering this weekly challenge in January and this is my seventh time to be featured. Which is fantastic considering the talent submitted each week into the group pool of images.
See the blog here and the all my submissions for the year here.
For some reason unknown there was no #FlickrFriday theme posted on Flickr for the weekend. Nor was there any results posts from last weeks submissions on the Flickr blog. I have to say I love this theme challenge as it has helped me focus each weekend on a particular ideal or concept. However, this weekend we were without a rudder, so it was a Flickr-free theme.

An excellent way for me to develop my photography has been through participating in #FlickrFriday weekly themed challenge. Resulting in me trying out new things or finding better ways to express these themes when I’m out and about. This Saturday I visited coastal old town Whitehead and while taking photos, I looked for a way to help this couple become my theme submission.
